Lonely Planet Traveller magazine unveils new look

Lonely Planet Traveller magazine has had a “stunning redesign” for its July issue – on sale from Friday 6th June.

The new look sees greater alignment with the Lonely Planet parent brand, the introduction of new regular features and more colour throughout.

The magazine’s redesigned cover features the Lonely Planet logo more prominently, helping to strengthen the publication’s presence on the newsstand. It also has a new silky, soft-touch finish, mirroring the treatment of Lonely Planet’s guidebooks.

The lead coverline for each issue will focus on a theme with appeal to a broad cross-section of travellers. The cover of the July issue features a beautiful image of a Cinque Terre village in Italy; one of the countries the magazine's readers are most eager to seek fresh inspiration about.

As well as the design changes, say the publishers, there’s also a selection of new and updated regular sections including:

* Globetrotter (New)

Helping readers fend through the onslaught of information online, this new section offers a tightly curated monthly selection of travel news and eclectic insights from Lonely Planet's experts, alongside local knowledge and a travel quiz.

* Great Escape (New)

An adventure of a lifetime mapped out each month for the magazine's readers to add to their wish list, contrasting with the spontaneous breaks recommended each issue in the Easy Trips section.

* Behind the Scenes (New)

An insight into the entertaining stories, range of travel experiences and sometimes heroic efforts that go into creating Lonely Planet Traveller each month.

* Postcards (Update)

The place for readers' latest travel photos and the stories behind them has been updated with the introduction of speech bubbles to reflect the sharing of anecdotes through social media.

Peter Grunert, Lonely Planet Traveller Editor, says: “Lonely Planet is trusted by millions of travellers across the world and one of the key strengths of the magazine is that we can tap into their international network of travel writers and photographers. The evolution of the magazine reflects this close relationship and offers even greater inspiration for travellers seeking new and authentic experiences.”

Simon Carrington, Publisher of Lonely Planet Traveller, says: “Lonely Planet Traveller has made a real impact since launching 6 years ago. However, we don’t ever rest on our laurels, and the time is right for a refreshed look and feel, aligning more closely with the wider Lonely Planet brand.”

The July issue of Lonely Planet Traveller has a special focus on summer in Italy, from the stunning coastal scenery of Cinque Terre on the north coast to sunset strolls in Rome and secret beaches in Sardinia. This month’s Great Escape explores Mexico, from the vividly colourful colonial buildings of San Miguel de Allende to the clear Caribbean waters and strutting flamingos of Sian Ka’an.

There are also Mini Guides to outdoors in Pembrokeshire, Lisbon’s nightlife, Stockholm on a budget, culture in Crete, eating out in Las Vegas and activities in Vancouver. Plus there are two free gifts with every issue - a USA’s Top 5 Road Trips guide and a free eBook download of Italy’s Best Trips worth £15.99.
