Look launches Body Confidence Campaign

Look yesterday launched a summer campaign to champion body confidence.

Encouraging all women to love their shape - the #MyBodyMyLook campaign will run across Twitter and Instagram and is supported with a Love Your Body special issue, out yesterday, and produced with three covers starring different models.

Celebrating the healthy body shapes of real women, Look is challenging women to post photos of themselves on Instagram and Twitter, with a caption describing what they love – or are learning to love – about their bodies, and nominate a friend to do the same.

Gilly Ferguson, editor of Look, says: “We may live in an age that champions selfies and how to bag easy likes on social - but sadly, real world, everyday body positivity doesn't come naturally to the majority of us.

“Which is why we at Look are on a mission to help all women learn to love their bodies, and for no better reason than this: your body is incredible! It’s yours, and only yours - and as such you should own it! To mark the start of our campaign, Look is launching a Love Your Body special issue – featuring three cover stars who have similarly made it their mission to positively champion all body types.”

Continuing its partnership with fashion retailer Simply Be, which kicked off in December 2015, the 9th May issue of Look has been published with three covers to embrace different body shapes and showcase Simply Be’s new swimwear line. The models include Iskra Lawrence, Sinead Blaney and Ali Tate, who previously appeared on Look’s first-ever model cover in 2015. All three women, who have a combined social media audience of nearly two million, have joined the #MyBodyMyLook campaign, sharing behind-the-scenes images from the cover shoot.

Polly Wakelin, Simply Be Brand team, adds: “At Simply Be we believe style doesn’t come with a dress size, so we couldn’t be prouder of our partnership with Look.

“Women battle with body confidence on a daily basis so it’s great to see three beautiful models who real women will resonate with on the front cover of Look. This is a great step forward towards more women above an industry-standard size 8 being represented in fashion campaigns.”

The Love Your Body special issue lands on newsstands on Tuesday 3rd May and is supported by a 25% Simply Be discount that is promoted on the cover.
