Mag+ unveils its one-push solution

Mag+ has announced that its first Android titles will launch in Sweden on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, advancing the cause of magazine publishers in their quest for “one-push” publishing onto multiple tablet devices.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, expected to be available in Sweden on June 29, comes pre-loaded with five Swedish magazine titles, published on the Mag+ platform and up to now only available on the Apple iPad. Mag+ English-language titles already on iPad, including the acclaimed Popular Science+, are due for release on Android-based tablets in autumn.

In addition to publishing to Android and iOS from one file, Mag+ has also developed an API to allow the Android sales platform to be integrated into a publishers’ own subscription system, to be released in autumn.

Multi-tablet publishing marks a significant development for Mag+, the flagship product of Moving Media+. CEO Staffan Ekholm (pictured) says, “This is a great advance for the one-push cause, as publishers look to take their titles on to multiple tablet formats.

“Publishers see that customers are prepared to pay for good titles on tablets, and they need to be where their readers go. It’s a very powerful offer – to be present on iPad and possibly its closest competitor, the Samsung Galaxy. The preinstalled magazines, produced on Mag+, look wonderful on the Samsung 10.1 inch screen.”

The one-push solution, and the subscription API simply add to the flexibility Mag+ already offers publishers keen to find their way in the tablet landscape, says the company.

“We’re looking forward to announcing more good news in the near future, as publishers take their magazines on to new tablet formats, and manage their subscriptions in new, more profitable ways,” says Ekholm.

About Moving Media+ and Mag+

Moving Media+ says: “Mag+ is the most flexible and efficient platform for publishing creative content on touch screen tablets. Mag+ premiered on the first iPads in April 2010 with the award winning Popular Science+. It supports dozens of live titles in the Apple Newsstand and has titles on the Samsung Galaxy Tab now too. One push takes tablet magazines to Google Android and Apple iOS. With its streamlined production system, powerful backend and feature-rich app framework, Mag+ is ideal for anyone — from magazine and book publishers to catalogue marketers and design agencies — wanting to bring beautiful, immersive content to the millions using this new generation of digital devices. Built by the R&D task force of global publishing powerhouse Bonnier Magazine Group, Mag+ was spun out into its own company, Moving Media+, in 2011.

Mag+'s simple InDesign-based workflow puts full creative control in the hands of the designers, not the tech guys. Video, HTML5 elements and other interactive features are added directly in InDesign. Mag+ is the only system that offers instant fully functional layout review on the iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab, which lets designers try new things and see immediately what the user experience will be. Mag+ offers a flexible and cost efficient solution for getting your publication live on tablets: Free tools and a fully branded, feature-rich reader app. You only start to pay when you publish and can choose a monthly subscription or per-issue model. You can then go ahead and publish, using the powerful web-based backend to manage your users, issues and analytics. The platform’s built-in features include analytics from Omniture, Localytics or Flurry; in-app subscriptions; Tapjoy, Admob and Appirator integration.”
