Marcus Rich appointed Deputy Chairman of PPA

Marcus Rich, CEO of Time Inc UK, has been officially confirmed as the new Deputy Chairman of the Professional Publishers Association (PPA).

Rich, who has been a member of the PPA Board and Executive Committee since 2014, was appointed to the role at the annual meeting of the association’s Board of Directors.

He will serve as Deputy for a period of 12 months, and will then take over as PPA Chairman on January 1 2018, succeeding current PPA Chairman James Tye, CEO of Dennis Publishing.

Barry McIlheney, CEO of the PPA, said: “I am thrilled that Marcus has taken on this important and prestigious role. Huge change continues to shape publishers’ businesses right across the breadth of the PPA membership, and his experience, support, and leadership will be invaluable in ensuring that the PPA continues to evolve to meet the demands of its members.”

Marcus Rich added: “It’s a privilege to take on the role of deputy chairman and I look forward to being able to provide my full support to James and Barry. Having been involved with the PPA for a number of years, I know that the work they do supporting the industry is incredibly important. I’m looking forward to representing the industry, celebrating our successes and helping to move it on however I can over the coming months.”

Rich joined Time Inc UK as CEO in March 2014 from Associated Newspapers. He previously worked at EMAP for 16 years, during which time he held the role of Group Managing Director of EMAP Lifestyle Magazines and EMAP Advertising, and also ran the company’s Australian and US businesses. Prior to that, Rich was a Group Account Director at McCann Erickson and also ran Optimus Communications.

He also recently succeeded Mark Cranmer as Chairman of Magnetic, the marketing body for magazine media in the UK.

Rich takes over as Deputy Chairman from Haymarket Media Group CEO Kevin Costello, who has now completed what McIlheney described as "four years of outstanding service" as both Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the PPA.
