Mark Wood is new CEO at Future

Future, the special-interest media group, has announced that after a rigorous selection process by recruitment experts Spencer Stuart, it has appointed Mark Wood as Chief Executive of its UK business, with effect from 31 August 2010.

Mark Wood (pictured) was Chief Executive of ITN from 2003 to 2009, where he created and built substantial new digital media businesses. He joined ITN from Reuters, where he rose from award-winning journalist to Editor-in-Chief. He was in charge of all Reuters news and television businesses, served on the Reuters plc Board and was responsible for Reuters strategic media alliances and investments. Since leaving ITN he has been involved in a number of digital start-ups and has been advising two national newspaper groups on internet and iPad strategies.

Stevie Spring, Future's Group Chief Executive, said: "I am thrilled with this new appointment to the executive team. Mark's outstanding track record in the media bridges both the commercial and the editorial and he has a wealth of experience: in broadcast, print and online. Content creation and curation is at the heart of Future's business and Mark is one of the UK's most experienced and talented leaders of content-focused companies."

Mark Wood said: "I am delighted to be joining the executive team at Future. Under Stevie Spring, Future has become a highly innovative and dynamic business with an impressive track record in growing digital revenues alongside the production of a fantastic range of successful print titles. I relish the opportunity to play a bigger part in the achievement of the company's objectives in a rapidly changing media market. I'm looking forward very much to leading the UK team through the next phase of its development."
