Menzies makes million pound move in travel media

Menzies Distribution has expanded its travel portfolio by acquiring Media On The Move from The Journey Group for £1.175 million.

The acquisition extends the newspaper and magazine distributor's provision of on-board and lounge reading material to a wider variety of operators including cruiselines, train companies and airlines.

Media On The Move will sit alongside Menzies Travel Media and Reed Aviation, which was acquired in November. The trio's combined 60-strong client list ranges from international carriers to niche jet and limousine services, and they offer marketing services to more than 200 publishers.

Menzies Distribution's Strategic Director David Morton said: "We are delighted to have acquired the business and welcome incumbent Managing Director Ajay Saxena to our team.

"Media On The Move has carved out a respected position in the market and has a strong reputation for innovation. Combining that with our strengths in logistics provides us with fantastic opportunities in the UK and overseas."

He added: "Both companies have always had a focus on providing clients with the best product choice, high quality service and value for money so one very much complements the other.

"We will now be looking to develop an increasingly more sophisticated offer for travellers, be they on trains, planes or boats."
