Microsoft partners with Bloomberg at London City Airport Hub

Bloomberg Media today announced an advertising partnership with Microsoft within the Bloomberg Hub experience at London City Airport (LCY).

Going live today, the deal marks the first time Bloomberg has offered advertising inventory to a third party within its installation at LCY.

Microsoft will showcase real-life stories illustrating how the Microsoft Cloud is empowering people and businesses to revolutionise the way they work and the difference they make. The videos will be aired on the ‘Media Wall’ in the heart of the business travel Hub for the next three months.

Matt Teeman, Commercial Director, Bloomberg Media, EMEA, said: “Welcoming Microsoft on board as the first third party advertiser at the Bloomberg Hub is testament to the success of the partnership since its launch last year. It’s a stand out example of how to bring a brand to life whilst servicing business professionals in the best way possible and demonstrates the unique opportunities Bloomberg is able to offer commercial partners throughout the region.”

Philippa Snare, Chief Marketing Officer, Microsoft UK, said: “In a mobile-first, cloud-first world, our customers are achieving new and inspiring things with our technology every day. This partnership delivers a highly targeted and engaging media platform to showcase the incredible results our customers are achieving with the help of our technology, in a way that adds value for business travellers during their London City experience.”

The Bloomberg Hub was launched in May 2014 as the product of a three-year agreement between Bloomberg and LCY to deliver a unique, technology-driven passenger experience, providing timely, relevant and valuable news and data to the 3.65 million passengers who travel through the airport each year.

The Media Wall consists of 12 55-inch Ultra HD 4K screens which, combined, create a digital canvas standing at 7.2m wide and 3.1m high. It hosts a mixture of dynamic, curated Bloomberg and travel content, such as market prices, news summaries, infographics and live departure information, all selected with the business traveller in mind.

Matthew Hall, Chief Commercial Officer at London City Airport said: “As our ground-breaking partnership with Bloomberg reaches its first anniversary, together we are once again bringing new and innovative initiatives to the departure lounge at the only airport actually in London. The confidence that the global powerhouse of Bloomberg continues to show in London City Airport demonstrates the clear synergies between our two brands and will help to ensure we are offering a quality, relevant and engaging experience to passengers, as well as offering advertisers the opportunity to reach a highly desirable audience.”
