MNA & PCS scoop awards at VMWorld Europe User Awards 2016

Midlands News Association (MNA), in conjunction with PCS, has been awarded Best of Show and winner in the Best Virtualisation & Cloud Infrastructure Project category at the Best of VMWorld Europe User Awards.

The winners were announced at VMWorld Europe in Barcelona on Wednesday 19 October, hosted by Computer Weekly and SearchServerVirtualisation.com.

PCS nominated MNA for the award after undertaking a major IT infrastructure migration project for its sister company. When MNA looked to upgrade its IT infrastructure like for like, it proved cost prohibitive. The publisher therefore looked to what its software provider PCS could offer. PCS and MNA then took a partnership approach to invest in a Dell end-to-end solution with duplicate hardware at two sites in order to host the MNA infrastructure virtually, the company says.

Graeme Clifford, MNA Print Managing Director comments, "It is great to receive double recognition for what has been an exciting project that has totally changed the way we approach our IT operation, especially our overall speed and resilience. The level of savings on cooling, electricity and staffing alone are impressive and we expect the project to have paid for itself within five years."

Phil Walker, MD at PCS says, "PCS have been successfully implementing virtual server solutions for over a decade. To be able to utilise our skills and experience to support MNA in their quest for a more efficient and cost effective IT infrastructure has been very rewarding, and this accolade tops it off."
