New Publishing Directors appointed for Glamour and Brides

Camilla Newman is named Publishing Director of Glamour, and Simon Leadsford is named Publishing Director of Brides, it was announced this week by Nicholas Coleridge, Managing Director, and Albert Read, Deputy Managing Director of Condé Nast Britain.

Simon Leadsford will be adding this responsibility to his existing role as Publishing Director of Condé Nast Traveller.

“Camilla has shown great commercial tenacity during her time with Britain’s biggest selling bridal brand. Her industry relationships demonstrate the high regard she is held in, and the success of the Brides business is testament to her talent. Energetic and enthusiastic, this promotion is well-deserved. She is the ideal publisher to continue Glamour’s success,” commented Nicholas Coleridge.

“Simon has demonstrated he is a top rate publisher and operator over two decades. His previous experience in the bridal sector, together with his varied and impressive resumé, will ensure a smooth and steady transition. The Brides business will be in capable hands,” added Coleridge.

Currently Publisher of Brides, Camilla Newman joined Condé Nast’s Classified Advertising team straight from university in 1996. Following a move to House & Garden Promotions, she joined Brides where she has remained for the last eighteen years, working her way up from the position of Fashion Sales Executive. Camilla is unique in that she is Condé Nast’s first publisher to have started their career in the Classified department, says the company.

Simon Leadsford is currently Publishing Director of Condé Nast Traveller, and prior to that was Publisher of Brides and Associate Publisher of House & Garden. These positions followed a distinguished career, says Condé Nast, at the National Magazine Company as Advertisement Director on Harpers & Queen and on the launch of Esquire. He also worked at Punch magazine and at FHM.

"As an avid reader of Glamour since its launch I couldn't be more thrilled to be joining this brand at such an exciting juncture in its evolution. A new larger format, a slick digital offering with significant social platform reach, plus live events, and all under the brilliant editorship of Jo Elvin; I can't wait to get started. Following a happy and fruitful commercial career at Brides I’m now ready for this fresh challenge," commented Camilla Newman.

Simon Leadsford remarked “I’m very excited at the prospect of driving forward two market leading titles. Brides is at the top of its game, having demonstrated considerable success both in attracting new advertisers and in the creation of new live experiences. Traveller has seen significant growth across its digital and print platforms as well as the introduction of a new events programme last year. I look forward to steering both brands into the next stage of their evolution.”

The Glamour role is being filled following the recent appointment of Jamie Jouning in the newly created position of Vogue Digital Director of Condé Nast International. Both Camilla and Simon will assume their new roles with immediate effect.
