New What HiFi? site

What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision unveils new website following a six-figure investment from parent brand, Haymarket.

What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision, a guide to buying and owning hi-fi and home entertainment products, has unveiled its new website today.

The new site is the result of a year of planning, design, UX, SEO, and development of hours of hard work and testing and a six-figure investment from parent brand, Haymarket Media Group.

The new site is built on the Drupal 7 platform and is designed to be fully responsive, so it will work seamlessly across desktop, laptop, tablet and smartphone.

Key to the development strategy for the brand is the implementation of user reviews through Bazaarvoice and the creation of thousands of additional product pages powered by data from Etilize, part of the GfK group.

In addition, the whathifi.com shop has been fully integrated into the new site to provide users with an at-a-glance price comparison on product reviews.

Andy Clough, Editor in Chief of What Hi-Fi? Sound & Vision says: "This is a really big day for us. We have rebuilt the website from the ground up, and it's been a hugely complex and challenging project.

"Our aim with the new site is to put search at the heart of everything, so users can find the right product for their needs, at the right price, as quickly as possible. We now have access to a database of more than 30,000 consumer electronics products, giving us far greater product coverage than ever before."

Rachael Prasher, Brand Director of Haymarket's Tech portfolio says: "Our aim has been to create a product focused on how consumers research and buy today, building on the considerable success Whathifi.com has enjoyed to date. Our discovery and planning phase therefore focused as much on retailer websites, user generated content such as YouTube videos and price comparison sites, as it did on traditional publisher websites. With more development and features in the pipeline we feel we have created a product that matches our audience’s demands and allows to take advantage of a variety of commercial models."

In addition to hosting What Hi-Fi?'s own reviews, the new website will enable users to submit their own reviews of any product they own, with user-generated reviews aiming to make up 50% of the site's review content. Data collected from the user reviews will provide an invaluable insight into the most popular products, what products readers already own and what they intend to buy next.
