News Limited signs new Advertising contract with Atex

News Limited, the Australia-based vertically integrated media company a division of News Corporation, has signed a new advertising contract with Atex, a leading software company selling solutions for media-rich industries.

As a next phase in a major project, News Limited’s previous generation Atex Advertising system, will be upgraded to its latest solution and integrated with the existing 800 seat next-generation Atex System; this will enable the company to de-commission its two mainframe-based advertising systems that are fast approaching the end of their life. This phase is expected to be completed in nine months and is the first step in transferring all of the group’s Advertising operations to a single national Atex system.

Licensed for up to 2,700 users, the system will support News Limited’s entire Australia-wide advertising business. The company will benefit from a single view of all its advertising across over 120 publications, including five major metro newspapers and Australia's largest circulation daily, the Melbourne Herald-Sun.

“It was important to us that we have one system to support all of our advertising sales, regardless of location across Australia, for all ad types and styles. We will take advantage of the advertising workflow tool and add more user tools via integration,” said Gary McKenzie, Director Sales and Publishing Systems, News Limited.

Dr Ross Wood, Regional CEO, Atex Australia, adds: “Our advertising model reduces costs, increases flexibility and allows media companies to focus on their main competencies. News Corporation is the latest customer to upgrade to our enhanced advertising system. We look forward to implementing our feature-rich advertising applications, designed specifically for the media industry.”
