NI To Refund Deposits Following NFRN Calls

News International has bowed to pressure from the NFRN and has promised to refund to new retail entrants the News of the World element of their deposits.

After strong representation, says the NFRN, the Federation has been told that any new entrant who had paid their deposit to NI based on three weeks supply value should contact the publisher's Customer Services Department for a proportionate refund.

From now on new entrants will have their deposits calculated on three weeks x anticipated supply value.

National President Kieran McDonnell said: "We are pleased that News International has listened to and acted on our concerns by agreeing to refund some of the deposit now that supply levels have been reduced with the demise of the News of the World.

"We have also been calling for a reduction in carriage charges as there will be fewer vans and fewer drivers. NI has assured us that this is currently under consideration.  We will advise of the outcome at the earliest opportunity."
