NME launches in India

NME, the multiplatform music brand, has announced a partnership with Pilot Ventures for the launch of WWW.NME.COM in India (WWW.NME.IN), with a dedicated Indian edition of the magazine to follow.

WWW.NME.IN and the Indian print edition of NME will contain dedicated content tailored to suit the Indian music community. Both will focus on the vibrant Indian music scene, delivering the latest news, features, profiles and live reviews from the hottest new acts in the country. It will also be packed with the usual mix of all the best from the UK and international music scene.

Emily Hutchings, publishing director of NME, says: “NME has a strong presence in India, but with such a vibrant music scene and such passionate music lovers it would be madness not to provide the country with their own edition of the magazine and 24/7 music news online. NME in India will be tailored to India’s favourite home-grown artists as well as featuring the very best from the UK and beyond. It’s a very exciting time for the NME brand.”

Asha Sondhi Madan, managing director, Pilot Ventures LLC, says: “We are absolutely thrilled to be entering the Indian market with NME. The Indian music scene is one of the most vibrant and exciting phenomena anywhere in the world and NME, with its unparalleled six decade legacy, is the perfect medium to showcase Indian talent to the world at large.”

IPC Media International licensing manager Bianca Hamilton-Foster adds: “It’s really exciting to be launching NME into the emerging Indian music market with all the synergies it provides for diverse media platforms.  NME India will be a truly multi-platform offering, catering for the needs of the growing number of young professionals with a passion for music.”

WWW.NME.IN is now live with NME magazine launching in India later in the year.
