Northcliffe Media appoints two Publishers

Northcliffe Media has announced the appointment of two Publishers to head up major regions within Northcliffe Media as part of a wide ranging programme to restructure the business.

Steve Hollingsworth (pictured top), currently Managing Director of the Leicester Mercury Media Group, has been promoted to Publisher of Nottingham Post Media Group, and David Simms (pictured below), currently Managing Director of ncjMedia (Newcastle Chronicle and Journal) for Trinity Mirror, has been appointed Publisher for the Leicester Mercury Media Group.

Steve Hollingsworth has worked for Northcliffe Media for 38 years, working his way up from a trainee ad sales rep at the Grimsby Telegraph, to Advertising Director at the Hull Daily Mail, Deputy Group Advertising Director, Managing Director of Grimsby and Scunthorpe before being appointed Managing Director of the Leicester Mercury Media Group where he also had responsibility for the East Midlands Metro. He will move into his new position on Tuesday 30th August.

David Simms began his career with Trinity Mirror in telesales at the Wirral News in 1984, progressing to General Manager of Liverpool Weekly Newspaper Group. He moved to Northcliffe as Classified Sales Manager at the Leicester Mercury in 1993. He then rejoined Trinity Mirror in 1995 as Regional Advertising Director for Trinity Weekly Newspapers in Liverpool. He was appointed Deputy Advertising Director for Liverpool Daily Post and Echo and two years later he was appointed Director and General Manager of Channel One TV, a joint venture between DMGT & Trinity Mirror.

David relocated in 2000 to the North East when he was appointed as Advertising Director for Newcastle Chronicle and Journal and was appointed Commercial Director in 2005 before taking up his current role as Managing Director for ncjMedia 2009. David will join on Monday 1st August.

The Publishers will report directly into Steve Auckland and have full responsibility for the profit and loss, portfolio, commercial and editorial strategy of their business.
