PCS 'Knowledge' recognised at IT awards

PCS, the independent technology arm of newspaper publisher The Claverley Group, has won recognition for its 'Knowledge' digital content management system for publishers at the annual UK IT Awards, in the Business Project of the Year category.

Also competing in the category were leading household names BT, Dell and Volkswagen.

The UK IT awards are the country's leading IT awards ceremony, hosted by The British Computing Society, Computing Magazine and The Chartered Institute for IT. The finalists for the category of Business Project of the Year were judged on the criteria of innovation, return on investment, quality of management and impact.

Knowledge enables magazines and newspapers to create, edit and publish content for both traditional print and new media simultaneously within the same application. The web-based platform enables journalists to publish content to their readers’ preferred medium – be that it in print, web, mobile or app – quickly, efficiently and from anywhere in the world with access to the internet.

Commenting on the nomination, Phil Walker (pictured), Managing Director of PCS said, "We firmly believe that Knowledge is a game-changer for the publishing industry. We're extremely confident that the platform's agility will enable publishers to keep apace with the industry’s evolution; as new apps and subscription access models emerge, Knowledge will be perfectly placed to serve them. Being recognised alongside these leading global companies is a real tribute to the innovation and hard work that has gone into making Knowledge a success."

PCS assembled Knowledge from the ground up – it researched, scoped, developed, and installed the platform in two of the UK’s biggest regional evening newspaper titles in just over two years, with the critical rollout taking under 12 months. The solution is built on database and business intelligence software from the technology company InterSystems.
