PDF sets up Olympic Distribution Group

The Press Distribution Forum has set up an Olympic Distribution Group (ODG), chaired by Nigel Lomas (pictured) of News International.

The purpose of the ODG is to address the unique challenges faced by publishers and wholesalers when distributing newspapers and magazines in the run up to and during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Issues faced by the industry include restricted delivery, road closures and security checks, which could potentially impact on the level of service retailers receive and the ability of wholesalers to deliver product close to Olympic event sites. The Olympic Distribution Group will be liaising with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG), the Department for Culture Media and Sport (DCMS), DCMS consultation (Regulations on advertising activity and trading around London 2012) and Transport for London (TFL), to gain their support in ensuring that the impact on newspaper and magazine distribution is minimal.

About the Press Distribution Forum (PDF)

The PDF says: “The purpose of the Press Distribution Forum (PDF) is to provide a self regulated forum for associations and companies involved in the supply and distribution of newspapers and magazines and to ensure the continuation of a diverse and plural press with its widespread availability to retailers and consumers.”
