Puzzler launches dot-to-dot magazine

Puzzler Media is to launch its first dedicated dot-to-dot magazine in response to the growing trend for turning old childhood activities into adult leisure activities.

Puzzler’s newest title, Creative DOT-to-DOT, will launch on 1st June billed as ‘relaxing puzzles for grown-ups’.

Lynda Newland, Puzzler Media’s marketing director, said dot-to-dot is currently one of the fastest growing pastime genres, second only to adult colouring books.

She said: “We’ve been publishing dot-to-dots in our mixed puzzle titles for over 40 years, but our consumer feedback and the wider market seems to be screaming out for a dedicated, creative connect-the-dots magazine and we’re delighted to add this title to the stable.

"There’s no doubt that like colouring-in, dot-to-dot is part of the growing popularity of mindfulness practices and people looking for low-tech ways of unwinding from hectic lifestyles.

“Our Creative Dot-to-Dot magazine will be an ideal stress-buster but people should expect something far more intricate and challenging than the basic line drawings we all grew up with.”

As further evidence in the rise in interest in dot-to-dot phenomenon, Lynda Newland points to WH Smith’s recent announcement that dot-to-dot is one of their fastest growing puzzle genres while adult colouring books account for 70% of the retailer’s sales of adult activity books and as many as eight of the top 20 selling books on Amazon.

She added: “A lot of people are speculating that dot-to-dot is the successor of on the colouring craze but it’s still early stages for the genre in relative terms, it’s certainly a popular addition and another wholesome book-borne pursuit that will promote mindfulness.”
