Shortlist for Cudlipp Award

The British Journalism Review Cudlipp Award for excellence in popular journalism shortlist has been announced.

The shortlist comprises:

• Daily Mirror: Hope Not Hate campaign

• Daily Mirror: Penland and Sommerlad Investigate

• Daily Mirror: Pride of Britain

• London Evening Standard: The Dispossessed campaign

• The Sun: Haiti Alive Aid

The Cudlipp Award judging panel decided to complete its shortlist by commending an example of journalistic innovation in the Cudlipp mould even though it had not been entered: the launch by The Independent of i, its lively new daily newspaper.

The Cudlipp Award will be presented at The Press Awards dinner at the Savoy on April 5. The award is organised by the British Journalism Review and the judges are chaired by its editor Bill Hagerty.

Shortlists for the other categories in The Press Awards were published last week and they can be seen at www.pressawards.org.uk

The British Press Awards are organised for the industry by the Society of Editors. Proceeds help to fund its work on media freedom and to support the Journalists’ Charity.
