SIPA UK Congress 2010

The Specialised Information Publishers Association (SIPA) is holding its annual congress at the Radisson Blu Portman Hotel in London on 13 July.

SIPA says: “Come to the SIPA UK conference to find out how to ensure successful product launches, monetise web traffic, and solve the paywall challenge. Decide on free or paid content, and nail down the most effective use of social media, apps and tools. Learn how to maximise email lead generation, and crack affiliate marketing. And pick two round table discussions from a choice that ranges from apps, audience development, email marketing, and lead generation to membership sites, NPD, SEO, site licences, social media and trials.

The latest keynote speaker to sign up is Fotini Liontou, CEO of Lloyd’s List Group. She’ll give a detailed overview of how she and her team modernised the respected brand Lloyd’s List and its sister data unit Lloyd’s MIU into pioneering business intelligence services. The first iteration of these new services launched in the first half of this year.

Claire Enders of Enders Analysis will open the conference, with a thoughtful assessment of the state of the industry. Keynote speaker David Foster, of Business Valuation Resources explains how to double your new product launches between now and 2011 - while reducing the risk. The afternoon keynote is Ian Jindal, Consultant, Publisher and Advisor, who considers the marketing challenges in an age of magic – why your customers are even further ahead of you, in a world of connected, social and immersive experience – and how to keep up.

Other topics to be covered during the day include making money from the iPad and ereaders; the most powerful ways to integrate web, search, ezines, telemarketing, DM and sales into your marketing mix; walls and paywalls – free versus paid content; proven techniques to boost lead generation and subscriber retention; and how to profit from the App economy – using apps, tools, widgets and social media for maximum bottomline results.

Choose two out of 18 round table discussion groups, and select the most relevant breakout tracks from marketing, publishing strategy and content issues. There will also be an exhibition of products and services from our sponsors, including Premier Print Group, Adestra and velo//.

There will be two pre-conference business discussion forums the day before the conference (Monday 12 July), aimed at senior marketers and publishers.

The 4th annual SIPA UK awards for publishing excellence will be presented in an evening reception after the conference. The categories include best marketing and sales teams of the year; best new launch; best use of social networking; best marketing campaign; best use of audio/video; and best product.

Special offer for SIPA non-members: All non-members attending the conference can join SIPA for the one-off low rate of £50 + VAT, and thereby save £100 or more on the day’s cost.
