Slimming World appoints new editor

Slimming World magazine has appointed Sara Ward as its new editor.

Sara, who spent 14 years in London at magazines including That’s Life and Take a Break, has joined Derbyshire-based Slimming World magazine as editor.

Produced in-house at the headquarters of weight-loss organisation Slimming World, the magazine has experienced significant growth in recent years and now boasts a circulation of 616,841, making it the UK’s fourth most-actively purchased magazine, say the publishers.

The August/September issue will be the first produced under the editorship of Sara. Speaking of her new role, she says: “From the first time I picked up a copy of Slimming World magazine, I was blown away by the inspirational real-life stories, stunning photography, delicious recipes and unshakeable support within its pages. I soon discovered that the enthusiasm and commitment shown in the magazine is echoed throughout the entire company, which made my decision to take up this exciting new challenge a very easy one.

“Slimming World magazine is a hugely successful title and my goal will be to keep that momentum going. I’m so excited to bring my commitment, experience and ideas to the role and really keen to hear from readers about what they’d like to see in future issues.

“Our covers always feature real-life slimmers and Rasha, who is on the front of this issue, has had an amazing weight-loss journey. It was a joy to attend her shoot – she’s such a lovely person inside and out – and as my first cover star she’ll always be a little bit special to me.”

Sara will work closely with Slimming World magazine’s incumbent editor Elise Wells, who has been promoted to editor-in-chief. Elise says: “During my nine years as editor, the editorial team and I have worked hard to create a gorgeous, glossy read that supports people on their weight-loss journey. I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve achieved – and I’m so excited to see what the future holds under Sara’s editorship. Her passion for real-life stories, the way she has embraced Slimming World’s values and her reputation as a bit of a foodie will all stand her in excellent stead. The quality of this latest issue is proof that she’s already off to a flying start!”

Slimming World magazine was recently named Customer Magazine of the Year 2016 at the Professional Publishers Association (PPA) Awards.
