Sun Savers appoints first Savers Editor

The Sun yesterday announced that consumer champion Giselle Wainwright has joined the paper as the first ‘Sun Savers Editor’.

Sun Savers appoints first Savers Editor

Giselle will scour supermarket aisles, holiday sites and everything in between to “put the good stuff within reach” for hard-pressed shoppers, says The Sun.

Every day Giselle will edit the Sun Savers page in the newspaper and co-ordinate The Sun’s coverage online to ensure that readers get the “hottest tips that can save them pennies and pounds”.

According to News UK, Sun Savers is now the country’s biggest loyalty scheme, with almost 800,000 readers signed up, and bringing Giselle on board will strengthen the paper’s role as the consumer’s friend.

Giselle, who has previously worked at Look Magazine and Heat as well as at The Sun’s female lifestyle magazine Fabulous, will bring a personal touch to the paper’s money-saving advice with a focus on the high street, supermarkets and online bargains.

Giselle will be available, say the publishers, for broadcast bids across TV and radio, offering commentary on consumer issues as well as providing simple tips for busy people to keep more of their money in their pocket – and enjoy guilt-free treats, too.

On her appointment, Giselle said: “The Sun has always put the good stuff within reach for its readers and I look forward to continuing that legacy. Sun Savers is more than just a loyalty scheme – it’s about families being able to do more, see more, and enjoy more.”
