Sunday Telegraphs hits 50

The Sunday Telegraph marked its 50th anniversary this weekend with a special commemorative supplement and a reader promotion with Penguin Books.

The broadsheet supplement featured 50 years of news through the eyes of The Sunday Telegraph and cover significant world events from the Profumo Affair and the assassination of President Kennedy; to the rise and fall of Margaret Thatcher; the life and death of Princess Diana; 9/11 and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Penguin, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of its Penguin Modern Classics, has launched a brand new series of Mini Moderns, two of which were given away free inside The Daily Telegraph and The Sunday Telegraph this weekend.

The Mini Moderns are short stories and novellas – and The Telegraph has chosen to feature the little-known masterpieces, Babylon Revisited by F.Scott Fitzgerald and The Beast In the Jungle by Henry James.

Ian MacGregor, Editor of The Sunday Telegraph said: “We are delighted to be celebrating our 50th anniversary with this fantastic supplement highlighting quality writing over the past five decades. Our partnership with Penguin, which is also celebrating half a century of publishing the Penguin Modern Classics series, is very fitting for the occasion.”
