TechRadar interviews James Cameron

TechRadar, the technology and reviews website from Future Publishing, has secured a special interview with superstar film maker James Cameron.

In the interview published on the website yesterday, TechRadar looks at the world of 3D films and the technology behind them, offering readers an insight into the tricks and techniques employed by Cameron (pictured) when using 3D, his relationship with the BBC and how he is progressing with both Titanic 3D and Avatar 2.

On converting Titanic to 3D, James notes that: “It’s a mind-numbing process; it’s like mowing the lawn with a toenail clipper.”

Since its launch in 2007, TechRadar has been increasingly high profile and has gained a reputation as the authoritative resource on technology reviews, with over 6.8 million unique visitors now viewing the site each month.

After enjoying a massive 70% increase year on year in 2010, TechRadar is at the heart of all the new industry developments, and has recently enjoyed some high profile successes, say the publishers.

This summer TechRadar was one of only two UK media outlets invited to Lucasfilm in San Francisco to learn about the new Star Wars Blu-Ray. Similarly, the British website is one of just a handful of others invited to meet James Cameron at the IBC conference in Amsterdam, and was granted an extended interview with the director.

The interview covers the key elements of how to make a good 3D film, looking at the effects used and the future of this technology and also Cameron’s personal likes and dislikes regarding 3D.

Nick Merrick, Publisher of TechRadar, says: “James Cameron is a huge techie, so he’s someone I’ve always really wanted us to talk to. And who better to tell us about where movies and 3D technology are taking us?

“We’re delighted to have the opportunity to bring such a successful and forward-thinking director to our readers.”

In recognition of the website’s recent achievements, TechRadar was highly commended in the consumer website category at the 2011 AOP awards. Future also won Best Digital Publisher – Consumer. Read the full James Cameron interview on TechRadar.
