Telegraph creates clearing app for students

In advance of the UCAS clearing listings being announced this Thursday August 18th, Telegraph Media Group (TMG) has created a Clearing app for students which will allow them to search by course, university and location to find relevant courses.

This is a one-of-a-kind app for clearing listings and runs off live data direct from UCAS. The app is free to download and is now available on the Apple app Store and Android Marketplace.

In addition to the app, TMG has also developed a mobile clearing listings search, which can be accessed by any mobile web browser at m.clearning.telegraph.co.uk, and a PC web clearing search at clearing2011.telegraph.co.uk. These are the most recent innovations developed by TMG as part of their media partnership with UCAS.

James Lancaster, Director of Classified, TMG said: “Our new app is designed to make the Clearing process easier to navigate, more relevant to the individual and faster. This is yet another way in which we plan to maximise our partnership with UCAS in order to help students plan the course of their futures.”

The Clearing app follows on from the launch, in July, of three new sections of the Telegraph’s Education Channel which were specifically designed for students.

The new sections include lifestyle advice for students, a profile of every UK university and college and a university comparison tool which enables users to browse a range of suitable universities based on their personal priorities.
