Brian Murphy: “We are pleased that Reach is finally listening, following our representations, and taking notice of us and the key role we play in making their sales happen every day.”

From this week, the cover price of Monday to Friday editions of the Daily Express in the UK will increase to £1.10, while copies of the Daily Star will go up to 75p.

Saturday editions of both newspapers will increase to £1.65 and £1.20, respectively.

Reach has confirmed that the profit paid to retailers on each copy sold will increase pro rata.

The Fed’s head of news Brian Murphy said: “We are pleased that Reach is finally listening, following our representations, and taking notice of us and the key role we play in making their sales happen every day.

“We urge all news publishers to follow suit and maintain the profit margins for retailers when considering price increases of their titles, both national and regional.”
