The Sun invites women to #RiseUpandShine

The Sun is supporting International Women’s Day this year by celebrating the way in which women have risen to the challenge in this incredibly testing year.

The Sun invites women to #RiseUpandShine

Instead of waiting years to immortalise someone with a physical statue, The Sun is honouring them here and now with digital models that pop up out of the paper and into your living room – a joyful celebration that aims to make its audience feel valued and visible, say the publishers.

The Sun is highlighting the pioneering vaccine work of Professor Sarah Gilbert, Kate Garraway’s inspiring courage and Annemarie Plas’s heart-warming Clap for Our Carers, alongside the valuable efforts of the Duchess of Cambridge, Susanna Reid, Alex Scott, and Kate Bingham.

Full page adverts celebrating these women feature in the paper with QR codes. The paper will also feature stories dedicated to pioneering women who work in STEM subjects, and who helped to create the vaccines, as well as everyday women who have made a real difference during the pandemic.

Across all social channels, The Sun is calling on women to #RiseUpandShine. With a Twitter IWD takeover, The Sun will shine a spotlight on the inspirational women who have done amazing things throughout history up to the modern day. Instagram showcases inspirational content, while Tik Tok features video content on the women who changed the world - but you've never heard of, says The Sun.
