Time Inc appoints Publishing Director for Cycling Group

Time Inc UK has announced the appointment of Steve Prentice as publishing director for its cycling group, which includes Cycling Weekly, Cycle Sport, Mountain Biker Rider and Cycling Active, plus the brand websites cyclingweekly.co.uk and mbr.co.uk.

Steve is currently working as a consultant on Time Inc UK’s equestrian brands, Horse & Hound and Equo.

Steve began his career as a journalist on evening and national newspapers before moving into magazines, where he edited a number of sports titles including Golf World for Emap. As publisher, Steve ran some of Emap’s most successful media businesses including Max Power, Today’s Golfer and Angling Times, and became managing director of the company’s sports division in 2009. He ran that business for five years, developing the business and overseeing its integration into its new owner Bauer. Steve currently works as a media consultant, advising companies on content strategy and planning.

Oswin Grady, managing director, Specialist says: "I'm delighted to appoint Steve to this publishing role. The cycling industry is currently benefiting from strong growth and I know Steve’s strategic vision will drive our cycling portfolio forward in this important sector. His extensive experience and industry knowledge combined with his energy and passion for cycling will further our growth and enable us to build on our current success, continuing to place Time Inc UK at the heart of the cycling industry.”

Steve adds: "As a riding-obsessed club cyclist since the age of 15 this is a dream come true for me. I’m looking forward to bringing my experience in sports journalism and media to these fantastic cycling brands, which are already proving they can be as relevant today as they have ever been. Cycling is growing and we are well-placed to build on that.”

Steve takes up his new role with immediate effect.
