2014 Scottish Magazine Awards – winners announced

DC Thomson’s teenage magazine Shout has been named Magazine of the Year at the 2014 Scottish Magazine Awards hosted by PPA Scotland.

The title also won Consumer Magazine of the Year, as well as the award for Online Presence for their Project Smile social media campaign.

More than 200 guests joined in the celebrations at the gala dinner and award ceremony hosted by comedian Fred MacAulay on Thursday 11 December at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Glasgow.

Content marketing companies Connect Publications and Think both did well on the night, with Paisley-based Connect taking home four awards and Think receiving three, including Publisher of the Year for Director John Innes.

The Drum won Business & Professional Magazine of the Year for the second year in a row, and Dumfries & Galloway Life’s Editor Andrea Thompson took home the award for Consumer Magazine Editor of the Year.

PPA Scotland Business Manager Nikki Simpson said: "Our twelfth successful Scottish Magazine Awards are testament to just how strong the magazine publishing sector is in Scotland.

“The standard of entries was exceptionally high and well done to all our winners but especially to the Shout team, who have faced adversity head on and completely transformed the magazine.”
