Andrew Harrison is new editor of Q Magazine

Andrew Harrison has been appointed Editor of Q Magazine, Bauer Media's flagship music title.

Andrew (pictured) is an experienced consumer magazine editor who has worked on some of Britain's most influential music brands including Select and Mixmag. He was also Music Editor of men's magazine Details in New York and Editorial Director of Emap Performance during 2000-2002. More recently Andrew was part of the founding team at independent music title The Word.

During his career Andrew has interviewed Madonna, U2, Stephen Fry and many more, and also written for Rolling Stone, The Guardian, The Observer and GQ. He is also the co-author of 'Love Music Love Food: The Rock Star Cookbook', which raises money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Andrew will take up the position with immediate effect, reporting to Publishing Director Rimi Atwal.

Rimi Atwal, Publishing Director of Q commented: “Andrew's proven track record in magazine craft, coupled with his instinctive understanding of Q's eclectic audience and his long-standing passion for music, makes him the ideal choice as editor at an exciting stage of product development.”

Andrew added: "I'm thrilled to be taking on the editorship of the world's greatest music magazine, and I'm looking forward to building on its unrivalled heritage of quality and character. Q magazine is the gold standard of music journalism, and I'll be working hard with the team to burnish that reputation in the months to come."

Andrew's appointment follows the departure of Paul Rees who has left Bauer Media to pursue new challenges and opportunities after ten years as Editor.

After joining Emap/Bauer in 1991, Paul’s career spanned over 20 years editing both Kerrang! and Q. Joining Kerrang! in 1994 as News Editor, Paul went on to become Features and Deputy Editor, finally being appointed Editor in 2000. After growing Kerrang! to its highest ever circulation, he was appointed as Editor of Q in 2002 and promoted to Editor-in-Chief in 2008.

Under Paul’s editorship Q expanded to become one the UK's most successful multi-platform brands. In 2011 he spearheaded the Q25 campaign to celebrate Q's 25th anniversary which culminated with a global exclusive remake of U2's seminal album Achtung Baby, a project he brokered directly with Bono and The Edge.
