Apple China recognizes success of GQ app

GQ 24 has been selected by Apple’s App Store in China as one of the 27 “Best of 2014” iPhone Apps.

GQ 24, a daily app produced by GQ China, is the only Newsstand app that won the title, as well as being the only app that focuses on fashion and lifestyle content. Among the 27 winning apps, it is also one of only eight that are produced in China.

Officially released on 5th September 2014, GQ 24 was chosen by Apple to be featured on the homepage of the App Store in China. GQ 24 was an instant success: within three hours of its official debut, it rose to the number one Newsstand app position and attracted over 300,000 downloads within the first month of release

According to Conde Nast International, GQ 24 marks the success of print and digital integration at GQ China. The team have been adapting and evolving the app since its development stage, transforming it from output on a monthly calendar to a daily feed with a dedicated live news team. During events such as Fashion Week, Baselworld and CES, the “GQ Live” section of the app will deliver timely daily reports of these events which in the past would not have appeared in the magazine until months later.

The GQ China team have also produced a one-hour long documentary focusing on the integration process behind GQ 24, which has accumulated about one million views to date

GQ magazine is published in China under copyright cooperation between Condé Nast and its local partner China News Service.
