Archant launches Norwich Extra

Archant has announced the launch of Norwich Extra – a new free weekly paper for the city of Norwich, focused on helping residents decide where to go, what to buy and what to do that weekend.

The new title is aimed at active and affluent family households wanting extra from their Norwich weekend, says Archant. Norwich Extra will keep readers updated on the latest community developments with news and inspiration on what to do in Norwich, including sections on shopping, home, gardening, eating out, entertainment and sport. It will also have consumer features helping readers find their way to the best offers in the city.

There will be regular editorial on key figures in the community about what makes the city tick. The sports section will have a guide to the local sporting weekend ahead and supporter analysis of that week’s developments at Norwich City FC. In the business section, there will be a double-page-spread dedicated to profiling a local Norwich business with a story to tell.

The launch of the paper is backed by an extensive multi-channel marketing campaign including bus, radio, outdoor and online - as well as through Archant’s own channels including Mustard TV.

Matt Kelly, Chief Content Officer, Archant said: “This is a quality newspaper for a quality city. It has a fresh look, reflects the vibrant community of Norwich and will enhance the weekend for shoppers and advertisers alike."

Launch advertisers include regional-based businesses Norwich Airport, Better Furniture and John Doe.

Craig Nayman, Chief Commercial Officer, Archant said: “For local businesses wanting to target consumers in Norwich city, the Norwich Extra is a fantastic paper to drive awareness of their services in an environment that’s in-tune with the people of Norwich. The paper gives local and national businesses the ability to reach a highly targeted group of local consumers in the city who are looking for weekend recommendations at a key moment in the week.”

The newspaper will be published every Thursday with recommendations on the upcoming weekend. David Powles has been appointed as Editor alongside his role as Editor of the Norwich Evening News.

The new weekly paper will be distributed to profiled households across Norwich as well as carefully selected venues across the city including coffee shops, health and fitness centres, hotels and waiting rooms and straight into the hands of the consumer via dedicated brand to hand teams.
