Bauer Media Advertising Appointments

Bauer Media has announced senior changes to its advertising team.

These moves, says the company, are designed to reinforce a cohesive, commercial structure, further simplify how the company operates in the media marketplace and enable the multi-platform group to deal ever more effectively with the customers it serves.

Abby Carvosso has been appointed to the newly-created role of Head of Magazine Sales to lead Bauer Media’s Womens, Mens, Music and Entertainment magazine sales teams. Richard Hayes, Head of Magazine Trading will also report to Abby.

Abby moves from the role of Deputy MD of Grazia and POP and has, says Bauer, been a driving force behind the outstanding success of the weekly glossy in the advertising market since it launched in 2005. Abby is a proven leader at senior level.

Previously, Abby led advertising sales teams in the glossy women’s market including Elle, Red and New Woman and boasts strong client and agency relationships.

Paul Keenan, CEO Bauer Media commented: “We believe now is the right time to invest senior resource to this role and bring a fresh focus to sales excellence, our clients and our creativity. Abby’s experience of building and leading high performing teams, plus her infectious energy and ambition will be crucial for success in delivering market-leading revenue across our magazine brands.”

A search for Abby’s successor to lead the Grazia and POP businesses is underway and will be announced in due course.

In another move announced yesterday, Richard Phillips steps up to become Head of Digital Sales with immediate effect.

Previously Richard was Director of Men's Media, managing the FHM, ZOO, Homme Plus, Q, MOJO, Kerrang! and Empire sales teams. In his new role, Richard will oversee the selling of 15 media brands across their mobile and online platforms. Richard will also join the executive team developing Group strategy for websites and will help drive digital learning across the Group.

Richard joined Bauer Media in July 2003 as Commercial Director on heat and Closer and later became Head of Market for all Women's Weeklies.

Paul Keenan, CEO of Bauer Media, commented: “Digital is a key part of our future business success and I am sure Richard will make an immediate positive impact.  He is an extremely talented individual and brings real commercial acumen and a great track record to these business critical markets.”
