BBC Good Food Magazine launches in Asia

BBC Good Food is to be published across Asia from October 2010, following a licensing deal between owners BBC Magazines and Regent Media, one of Singapore's leading publishing houses.

Aimed at social aspirers, homemakers and gourmets, BBC Good Food Asia is a full-colour glossy title modelled closely on the award-winning UK edition. Each issue will feature at least 70 tried-and-tested recipes to cater to all occasions — from Western-style dishes to more local flavours. To ensure the publication stays relevant to the local audience, there will also be dedicated sections on the Asian kitchen and pantry. The Asian edition will comprise 60% UK content and 40% local content.

The managing editor of BBC Good Food Asia is Joyceline Tully and the publisher is Cecilia Woo.

Regent Media's Cecilia Woo, Publisher of BBC Good Food Asia, said: "The BBC brand is well known around the world for its long and illustrious heritage and responsible and exemplary journalism. With its international look and trusted brand name and content from BBC's specialist publishing output, the magazine ensures excellent quality and great value for advertisers and consumers."

Chun Leong Ong, BBC Magazines' Licensing Manager for Asia-Pacific, said: "The launch of Good Food Asia is a significant development for us as it is our first licensed food magazine in Asia. With a good editorial balance of both Western and Eastern flavours, we are confident that Good Food Asia will be well received by food lovers, whether they are social aspirers, homemakers or epicureans."

The magazine's initial print run will be 50,000, with 25,000 distributed in Singapore and 25,000 in Malaysia. With the first issue of Good Food Asia goes on sale on Friday 1 October, priced S$7.50.

Established in 1999, Regent Media has grown to become one of Singapore's most dynamic publishing houses. BBC Good Food is the third addition to Regent Media's locally published BBC titles — BBC Knowledge and Lonely Planet Asia – and will further strengthen our relationship with BBC Magazines.

International editions of BBC Good Food Magazines are also published under licence in Romania (2006); Middle East (2007); Australia (2008); Bulgaria (2008).
