BBC Knowledge magazine launches in Sweden

BBC Knowledge magazine launches in Sweden on 8 November in a new deal between Immediate Media Co and leading Swedish magazine house First Publishing.

BBC Knowledge Sweden will be edited by First Publishing’s Jonas Berg, who has a wealth of magazine experience. The magazine has a print run of 25,000 copies and costs SEK 89. First Publishing also produces BBC History in Sweden under licence from Immediate Media Co.

Joanna Marshall, Immediate Media’s Head of Licensing & Syndication, said: “We are delighted that BBC Knowledge magazine will launch in Sweden. The magazine follows a successful channel launch in the territory last year.  It is hugely exciting to be growing our BBC Knowledge licensees and we are confident that the Swedish readers will enjoy the unique mix of history, science and wildlife content that this title provides.”

Patrick Ekelius, Managing Director of First Publishing, said: “BBC Knowledge is a trusted magazine that we are very pleased to license in Sweden. The BBC brand is strong and highly respected in Sweden and that gives our local edition a confident position in the market. With an established partnership through the licence of BBC History, we are very confident about this new magazine launch.”

BBC Knowledge Magazine launched in the US in August 2008. It is now published under licence in Brazil, Asia, India, Taiwan and Bulgaria, making this new deal with First Publishing the title’s sixth international licence.

First Publishing was established in 2002 and publishes Sweden’s largest photography magazine, DigitalFoto, and its spin-off magazines FotoGuiden and PhotoshopGuiden. The company specialises in technology publishing and is also known for lifestyle magazines such as In Touch, and Kom i form (health and fitness).
