Bloomberg hire first global commercial creative director

Allan Wai has been hired as Bloomberg Media's first global commercial creative director, announced the company's head of global media marketing, Zazie Lucke.

Wai will oversee the creative core of client partnerships, with a focus on delivering innovative and engaging experiences on behalf of Bloomberg Media clients that stretch across Bloomberg's multi-platform suite: digital, mobile, video, broadcast, print, and immersive live environments. He will also oversee our custom content offerings, ensuring top-level brand integration, quality of execution, and depth of engagement. Lastly, Wai will oversee the aesthetic and execution for all of Bloomberg Media's global trade activity, ad sales materials, promotions, and events, say the publishers.

Wai has received over 40 industry awards throughout his career, including the Webby Awards in multiple years (Best Streaming Service and Best Practices), PromaxBDA Awards in multiple years, several Creativity Awards, the 2012 Variety App Award, and the 2011 Mobi Awards, Best in Show.

For several months prior to Bloomberg, Wai was the consulting creative director for MTV, evolving their brand toolkit and developing integrated launch tactics for new series.

For five years, Wai was based at HBO as the Manager of Digital Design & Production, where he led the design and content promotion strategy for HBO GO and MAX GO, overseeing branding, production, short-form content creation and budgets.

Wai has held senior design and creative positions at brand agency Blister, USA Network, RDA International, RCA Records, and Guitar World Magazine.

"Allan is a truly admired and creative force who will bring fierce direction and spark to our forthcoming Bloomberg Studios and our advertising partners," says Bloomberg Media's Chief Revenue and Client Partnerships Officer Paul Caine.
