BMJ has launched its latest impact report, including real-world examples of how the organisation is helping to improve health outcomes worldwide.

Global healthcare knowledge provider, BMJ, has published its 2023 impact report. The third annual report provides external validation and real-world tangible evidence of how BMJ is helping to improve patient outcomes in healthcare worldwide.

This report highlights the impact achieved by BMJ from May 2022 to June 2023. BMJ says most notably:

  • Advancing how the real-world impact of health and medical research is measured: Introducing BMJ Impact Analytics, transforming how we measure the real-world impact of research.
  • Advancing equity in open access publishing: By providing free access and implementing policies, BMJ is enabling authors from low-income countries to publish their research across all BMJ’s 65 journals.
  • Delivering impactful science and journalism: BMJ’s Investigations Unit plays a pivotal role in stimulating informed discussions and promoting evidence-based research, ultimately leading to improved patient outcomes.
  • Producing the only point of care tool to support the management of single conditions and patients with more complex comorbidities: BMJ Best Practice and the Comorbidities Manager reaches users in over 100 countries and has earned accreditation from more than 60 institutions, underscoring their value as indispensable healthcare resources worldwide.
  • Campaigning on the climate emergency and changing how BMJ operates in pursuit of a healthier world: BMJ solidified its commitment by becoming a signatory of the UN SDGs Publisher Compact and endorsing the UK Health Alliance on Climate Change’s fundamentals for a healthier world.
  • Social responsibility: BMJ recognises that sustainability is intricately linked with society. Thus, have embraced a role in making a positive impact by partnering with Future Frontiers to address social mobility and championing social responsibility.

The publisher says this report underscores BMJ’s dedication to innovation, equity, evidence-based practice, global reach, and sustainability, positioning the global healthcare knowledge provider at the forefront of positive change in the world of healthcare and publishing.
