Their appointments are effective immediately.

In their current roles as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Commercial Officer respectively, Tony and Toby have successfully brought Boat International Media into a new era of growth and expansion, the Board said in their endorsement of the new leaders.

“The Board, with the help of an executive recruiter, conducted a global search for a new CEO but in the end we were most impressed not only with Tony and Toby’s track record but with their shared vision for the company,” said John Paton, Executive Chairman of the Board.

Tony has been at Boat International Media for almost 15 years, joining in October 2004. During that time, he has been a key figure in transforming the business from a print-only proposition to a multimedia operation.

Tony says: “I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to lead the business into the next chapter. Having experienced many changes within the media landscape we feel well equipped to deliver the future vision of the company.”

Toby spent five years at Hearst, six years at Time Inc as publisher of Marie Claire UK and 12 years at The Telegraph Media Group in various senior management roles and latterly as Commercial Director. After 12 months as Chief Commercial Officer at Boat International Media, Toby oversaw a double-digit growth in revenues, says the company.

Toby says: “I am delighted to be given this opportunity to co-lead the company into a new era of expansion. The future is incredibly exciting and I look forward to taking the company to the next stage of its development.”
