Computer Arts celebrates 200th issue with special cover

Computer Arts Magazine has released its 200 issue, and to celebrate this landmark, Computer Arts created a celebratory front cover with special decorative finishes completed at Celloglas in Reading.

Issue 200's cover was produced in-house by designer Becca Allen and features a custom typeface called Deux Cents. Celloglas discussed the cover with Becca and other members of the Computer Arts team before the final selection of finishes were made. The cover had a combination of gold and black foil with texture and emboss, plus a spot UV varnish.

Becca visited Celloglas Reading and a video of the production of the cover was created and put on Youtube. Becca Allen, a designer at Computer Arts commented: “The production video has been really popular online, it provides our readers with a unique chance to see behind the scenes and find out how the cover was made”.

Art Editor, Jo Gulliver worked on positioning and cover structure. Jo supplied several pdf’s to Celloglas, one for each finish and worked closely with Celloglas to ensure the best possible result.

Steve Middleton Sales Director at Celloglas commented “It was fantastic to work so closely with Computer Arts magazine on this cover, their creative ideas for finishes were really flowing and the final result is stunning.”

The Computer Arts 200th issue cover has been well received on twitter, with comments such as “Cover looks awesome!” and “Cover looks amazing!”. Computer Arts also put lots of pictures of the cover online, showing different aspects of the foiling and spot UV.
