Darren Singh signs up as Publisher for ShortList

Shortlist Media have announced the appointment of Darren Singh to the position of Publisher of ShortList.

Darren (pictured), who is currently Advertising Director for Hearst UK’s Esquire magazine, will join ShortList in January 2012. He will oversee all commercial activities for the brand as well as working closely with Editor Martin Robinson to develop and grow profitable new extensions of the ShortList brand.

Darren will report to Karl Marsden, Managing Director of Shortlist Media Ltd. Karl comments: “ShortList has just celebrated its fourth birthday and could not be in better health. It’s a sign of the continuing fast growth of the brand that we wanted to bring in such a dynamic operator to lead the team to achieve our ambitious targets. Darren has a depth of experience in the quality men’s market, combined with the desire to take what is already a hugely successful magazine and team and lead them to even greater heights.”

Darren says: “I have had 7 fantastic years at Esquire, and I am leaving the brand in a really positive position. Looking ahead, I am delighted to be joining a ShortList team which is so full of talent. Working in the men’s market I have watched the title’s tremendous progress with excitement and interest since it launched in September 2007. To be given the opportunity to lead ShortList at this pivotal time in its evolution is a dream role and I cannot wait to get started.”

ShortList is one of the leading men’s lifestyle magazine in the UK, with an audited weekly ABC of 524,000. Like its sister title, Stylist, it is distributed through a unique, nationwide hand distribution network in an operation that employs over 500 merchandisers in 12 British cities every week.

At the start of November, ShortList will publish its landmark 200th issue featuring an exclusive interview with Johnny Depp accompanied by a bespoke illustration by Ralph Steadman on the cover.
