Digital Spy appoints Deputy Editor

Digital Spy, Hearst UK’s entertainment brand, has appointed Matt Hill to the position of Deputy Editor.

Currently Editor of technology website Gizmodo UK, Matt has over 14 years’ media experience spanning technology, entertainment, consumer lifestyle, style and design. Prior to Gizmodo UK, Matt was Editor of T3 Magazine & Digital Editions, where he guided the tech title to become the UK’s best-selling digital magazine.

Matt joined T3 as Deputy Editor in January 2011 and was part of the senior team behind the brand’s all-time record circulation and a number of industry award wins, including PPA International Magazine of the Year and Digital Product of the Year, says Hearst UK.

Before T3, Matt served as Deputy Editor of ShortList and Production Editor/Online Editor of men’s style monthly, Arena. Matt has also won two Games Media Awards and written for The Guardian, The Sunday Times and Wired UK.

Matt joins Digital Spy on 28 April and will work closely with the section Editors to continue to evolve all of Digital Spy’s output. Matt will draw on his expertise, in the technology and games space in particular, to drive Digital Spy’s offering around these key areas, as they become an increasing priority for the brand.

Matt commented: “It’s an exciting time to be joining Digital Spy. While the site has long been the UK’s hangout of choice for TV lovers, its growth under David’s stewardship to become a major international entertainment and technology destination has been impressive. I’m very much looking forward to working with the talented team to help cement and shape its future.”

David Moynihan, Editor of Digital Spy, commented: “I'm delighted to have Matt joining the team and can't wait to unleash his huge talent and experience on Digital Spy. We have a tremendously ambitious year ahead with some major initiatives in the pipeline. We're proud to be the largest and most exciting entertainment website in the UK and look forward to strengthening our position as the destination for the best TV and entertainment coverage.”
