Elizabeth Schimel named Condé Nast International Vice President

Elizabeth Schimel, the President of Condé Nast China, has been named a Vice President of Condé Nast International and joins the company’s Executive Committee, it was announced today by Jonathan Newhouse, Chairman and Chief Executive.

Liz has directed Condé Nast China since October 2013 and will continue to do so while taking on the wider responsibilities of an Executive Committee member. Under her leadership Condé Nast China has firmly established itself as one of the most important businesses for Condé Nast International. Vogue, Self, Gentlemen’s Quarterly, AD and Condé Nast Traveler are all published under copyright cooperation with various Chinese publishers.

Prior to coming to Condé Nast International, Schimel served as Chief Digital Officer of the American publisher Meredith and Chairman of the Board of Next Issue Media, a joint venture of Condé Nast, Hearst, Time Inc and Meredith. Previously she held positions at Nokia and Comcast Interactive Media. She holds a dual Masters degree from The Wharton School, an MBA in Finance and an MA in Asian Studies, and is fluent in Mandarin.

“Liz is a superb executive who brings to the Executive Committee a deep understanding of digital, particularly mobile, along with responsibility for the Chinese market. These areas are key to the future of our business,” said Newhouse.
