Emerald appoints Harriet Bell to its leadership team

Emerald Group Publishing has announced the appointment of Harriet Bell to the new position of Marketing Director, taking responsibility for the development and delivery of the company’s marketing operations worldwide.

Harriet joins Emerald following a 20-year career primarily in scholarly and academic publishing, most recently as VP, Journal & Data Solutions at RELX Group.

Throughout her career, Harriet has held a number of other senior executive positions in the industry, including Head of Marketing for Scopus and Publisher of TheLancet.com, during which time she has driven a wide range of digital initiatives and product developments to enhance customer experience.

Commenting on her appointment, Harriet said: "I'm excited to join a company as ambitious and focused as Emerald, at a time of transformation within the publishing industry which Emerald is well placed to navigate.

“The recent acquisition of Good Practice and Research Media demonstrate Emerald's continuing drive to explore new ways of adding value for our customers.

“I am pleased to be part of the company as it looks to further develop solutions for communities in research, practice and education. I look forward to joining talented colleagues on the Board and throughout Emerald.”

Harriet will join the company on 26 October 2015.
