Empire - Tintin World Exclusive

The December issue of monthly movie magazine Empire will feature a world-exclusive first look at Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson's The Adventures Of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn.

The film - not on general release until October 2011 - is the first major collaboration between the two movie icons, and adapts the enormously popular Tintin books by Hergé in performance-captured, 3D form. It is also the first time either the film's director, Spielberg, or producer, Jackson, have released a 3D movie.

The cover image of Tintin (Jamie Bell) and his dog Snowy picked out by a spotlight as they are running was created especially for Empire by the Weta Workshop and is the first time these much-loved characters have been seen anywhere in the world as they appear in the film.

Inside Empire has secured a series of stills from the film, including one showing Andy Serkis' Captain Haddock and another of Haddock and Tintin adrift at sea and signalling for help. The stills are accompanied by an exclusive interview with Spielberg and Jackson.

The film also stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as Thompson and Thomson respectively and Daniel Craig as Red Rackham. It also features Cary Elwes, Toby Jones, Mackenzie Crook and Daniel Mays.

Stuart Williams, MD of Empire, commented: "The Adventures Of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn is one of the most anticipated films in recent years and to be talked through it in person by Spielberg and Jackson illustrates how influential Empire is in connecting movie fans with their movie heroes via groundbreaking editorial access and content."

The December issue of Empire is on sale November 4.

Empire claims to be the world's biggest-selling movie magazine (179,064 JJABC) and was recognised as the PPA Consumer Magazine Of The Year earlier his year.

Last year the Empire team, led by Editor Mark Dinning, relocated to LA to work with guest-editor Steven Spielberg on the 20th Anniversary issue. The special issue included exclusive photoshoots with a veritable Hollywood Who's Who - Jack Nicholson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tom Cruise and Mel Gibson amongst them. The prints were later auctioned, raising £20,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital, and the photograph of Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster hangs in the National Portrait Gallery.

The Adventures Of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn will be out in the UK in October 2011.
