Sam Robson: “Google has been an important partner to Future for many years.”

Content from PC Gamer and GamesRadar+ has been reworked to feature on Web Stories which was launched in early October onto the Google app into the USA, Brazil and India.

The company reached out to the Future brands to join its early access program and in recognition of their position as key gaming partners, says Future.

Sam Robson, Future’s Director of Audience said: “The Web Stories format is an interesting and engaging way to both create and consume content across Google products and we were pleased that Google approached us to help kickstart the ecosystem with gaming content.

“To date we have reworked 114 pieces of content for Web Stories which have in turn generated just over 1.5m pageviews.

“Whether across search, Youtube or advertising, Google has been an important partner to Future for many years. We’re excited by the potential of their new Web Stories format and particularly how it can engage audiences within the Discover platform.

“Web Stories have given Future the opportunity to be creative with our content and create engaging formats almost mixing the best of our print and digital skills. The format should offer interesting and engaging formats for premium advertisers and we’re looking forward to seeing where Google takes Web Stories next.”

More than 800million people use the Google Discover app each month. Previously, the Web Stories functionality has only been available as part of its search engine, says Future.
