Future launches Classic Rock Alice Cooper Fan Pack

Alice Cooper’s hugely-anticipated new album ‘Welcome 2 my Nightmare’ is released in the UK in October – but fans can get their hands on it more than a month early as part of Classic Rock’s exclusive Fan Pack in print and – for the first time, on iPad via iTunes.

The ‘Welcome 2 my Nightmare’ Fan Pack, complete with a raft of exclusive content not available anywhere else is released this week and is the only way for fans to get their hands on this landmark album four weeks ahead of the UK general release date.

The ‘Welcome 2 my Nightmare’ Fan Pack features the full 14-track album, plus two Fan Pack exclusive bonus tracks: ‘Under The Bed’ and ‘Poison (Live at Download Festival)’.

In hard copy, it’s bundled with a 132-page collector’s-edition Classic Rock special dedicated to Alice Cooper. 100% Alice-approved, the magazine features a major new interview with Alice himself and also talks to all the album’s special guests – including Rob Zombie and Ke$ha.

On iTunes, the app version  delivers an exclusive track-by-track video commentary of Alice revealing the story behind every song on Welcome 2 My Nightmare; the ability to play Welcome 2 My Nightmare either track by track or in full on the album page - with those two exclusive bonus tracks; a major new interview with Alice, talking through his career from its beginnings right through to Welcome 2 My Nightmare; the promo video of I'll Bite Your Face Off featuring footage from Alice's secret 100 Club gig and Interactive galleries featuring rare photographs taken from Alice's personal archive

Bursting with everything Alice, from rare photographs taken from his personal archive to testimonies from his famous fans, the ‘Welcome 2 my Nightmare’ Fan Pack commemorates a 45-year-career which has seen the veteran shock-rocker sell more than 50 million records and change the face of rock forever.

‘Welcome 2 my Nightmare’ is the long-awaited sequel to Alice Cooper’s debut solo album, 1975’s multi-platimum classic ‘Welcome To My Nightmare’.

Classic Rock Group Publisher Chris Ingham says: “Alice actually featured on our very first Fan Pack – the Slash album – on the extra track 'Baby Can't Drive', and back then his team were adamant that the Fan Pack format was ideal for them when the next album was ready. So when we found out that it was 'Welcome 2 My Nightmare' and Classic Rock had a chance to create genuine rock history by partnering on the development of a truly iconic piece of work and then delivering it to the mass market in over 2,500 non-traditional music retailers on the newsstands, how could we refuse? Halloween starts early this year! Grab an Alice pack!"

Future Editor in Chief, iPad and Tablet editions, Mike Goldsmith, adds: “The iPad has enabled us to bring the Fan Pack to life - we've not only enhanced the great content in the print edition, we've included exclusive video of Alice introducing you to his nightmare plus talking through every track on the album. Filmed especially for the iPad edition, this makes for yet another world first for Classic Rock and Alice Cooper.”

That original album is an all-time rock classic that spawned a worldwide theatrical tour and pioneering US TV special, cementing Alice Cooper as a visionary trailblazer whose influence persists today in rock, metal, pop, punk, theatre, television, film and much more.

More than 35 years later, Alice and original producer Bob Ezrin have resurrected the horror and humour for a new generation.

“This is Alice’s nightmare 35 years later,” explains Alice, “Bob and I created this character and we know how to write for him. We kept the first Nightmare album very personal to us, on this one we found more humour and we were more open. This was our world and we want to present it to the fans.

“The original album was my first solo album after all those huge hit records with the original band and now that nightmare is exposed, this one can be a little bit more open. The music crosses all sorts of boundaries; we went where the lyrics took us.”

The stellar array of collaborators on ’Welcome 2 my Nightmare’ includes reunited original Alice Cooper members Denis Dunaway, Michael Bruce and Neal Smith; global pop superstar Ke$ha, who affectionately calls Alice “dad”; and legendary Alice and Lou Reed guitarist Steve Hunter.

“That’s my rebellion,” says Alice of the more surprising guests, “I like people that don't belong and yet what they're doing works perfectly. I don't care where it comes from, as long as it's right.  If you tell me something doesn't work, I’ll work my head off until it does then shove it down your throat.

“I think a lot of my audience is going to go 'KE$HA!?', but she probably wrote the darkest lyrics in the song – we had to rein her in. I like people to know that just because artists are put in a pigeonhole, that doesn't mean that's what they are. Give people a little room.”

In 2011, Alice Cooper has been tearing up venues worldwide on his 2011 ‘No More Mr Nice Guy’ tour. As well as appearing at the Download Festival, he gave UK fans a treat in June with a surprise performance at London’s tiny 100 Club – when actor Johnny Depp joined in on guitar.

‘Welcome 2 My Nightmare’ is on sale now as a Fan Pack in conjunction with Classic Rock and Future Publishing. It’s available on the UK newsstand at £14.99 and via iTunes at £12.99.
