Google ends First Click Free requirement

Google has announced that it has removed its First Click Free (FCF) requirement for ‘Search’ and is, in its place, offering ‘Flexible Sampling’.

The introduction of ‘Flexible Sampling’ is being portrayed by Google as part of its efforts to support the business models of publishers.

In a blog post, posted on Sunday, Cody Kwok, principal engineer, explained their thinking.

In the post, Cody says: "We are excited by this change as it allows the growth of the premium content ecosystem."
