Haymarket appoints new Director of Exhibitions

Haymarket Media Group has appointed Maryam Hamizadeh as the new Director of its Exhibitions division.

Maryam will be in charge of Haymarket’s portfolio of exhibitions - The Clothes Show, Autosport International, Classic & Sports Car: The London Show, Cereals and Fruit Focus, covering markets as diverse as fashion and arable farming.

The new role will see Maryam responsible for the overall strategy of Haymarket’s exhibition brands, with a focus on building and maintaining relationships with internal stakeholders, clients and partners. She will also be tasked with developing new revenue opportunities, whilst constantly focused on delivery of the existing shows.

Maryam started as the first ever placement student at Haymarket in 2002 on The Clothes Show (formerly Clothes Show Live). She then progressed across a variety of roles until being offered the position of Director of The Clothes Show. During her 13 years working on the exhibition, Maryam oversaw last year’s rebrand of The Clothes Show - Haymarket’s biggest investment in its history - as well as being responsible for a number of successful brand extensions.

Last year, Haymarket also launched a new exhibition - Classic & Sports Car: The London Show, which welcomed over 15,000 visitors to Alexandra Palace.

Haymarket Media Group CEO, Kevin Costello, said: “With huge investment and a new launch last year, Maryam’s appointment underpins our commitment to this growing FACE (festivals, awards, conferences and exhibitions) area of our business.”

“I am confident that Maryam’s experience and expertise will lead her to further strengthen our portfolio, as well as find new revenues for future expansion.”

Maryam Hamizadeh, Director of Exhibitions, said: “I see experiential ever-increasing in importance to brands, and becoming a rapidly growing commercial opportunity for events. I am excited for the opportunity to lead our dynamic Exhibitions division in extending our brands, as well as looking to future ventures into new products and new markets.”

Maryam’s appointment comes after Exhibitions Managing Director, Gavin Brown, passed away in March 2015. Maryam has recently returned from maternity leave and begins her role immediately, reporting to Group CEO, Kevin Costello.
