Haymarket Media Asia licenses training event in US

Haymarket Media in Asia has signed an agreement to licence its MediaWorks pitch training event in the US.

MediaWorks Americas will be produced by CMS Americas which was established by Michael Lee, former IAA Chairman and Frank Ferrer CEO of MFM Global. The first MediaWorks Americas will be held at The Biltmore Hotel in Miami on 11-14 June 2012 and will follow the format of the original MediaWorks which, in its 8th year in Asia-Pacific, will this year be held in Bangkok on 11-14 July having previously also been held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

MediaWorks is an intense and challenging three-day course that will expose and equip the rising stars of media and advertising with additional skills to meet the needs of a fast-moving and demanding industry. Teams on the course receive a brief directly from the client and then prepare for their pitch in real time, with a team of leading industry experts to guide them through the process.  Recent clients have included Coca Cola, Nokia and Shangri-La Hotel s and Resorts.

“We are very excited to partner with Haymarket to launch this unique, pitch-focused career training for the ad industry here,” said Lee. “It has been a big success in Asia and the feedback we’ve received already has been overwhelming as companies seek to invest in and improve their own intellectual talent.”

Tim Waldron, Managing Director of Haymarket Media in Asia, commented that the industry has often been criticised for not attracting talent or investing in it.

MediaWorks Asia-Pacific which has received considerable delegate support from media networks, has made a positive contribution toward addressing this issue,' he said. 'We are delighted to have identified an effective partner in CMS Americas to begin the international expansion of MediaWorks.”

The agreement was secured by Tim Waldron, Andrea Hayes, Group Events Director responsible for MediaWorks Asia-Pacific and Edward Marr, Haymarket's Head of Licensing Development in the region.
