Haymarket to host Google News Lab Fellow with Stuff

Haymarket has joined the Google’s News Lab Fellowship scheme and will host a journalism student in Summer 2017 with Haymarket's consumer electronic title, Stuff.

The Google News Lab Fellowship offers students interested in journalism and technology the opportunity to gain a placement working at relevant organisations across the UK to gain valuable experience. Companies involved in the scheme this year include the Guardian, Financial Times, The Bureau of Investigative Journalism and BBC News Lab.

The Fellow, who will be announced in March 2017, will work with the Stuff editorial team, feeding into previews, reviews and features teams across print and digital. The role will present a variety of exciting challenges; finding and curating the best new gadgets, offering an opinion on the biggest new releases, and advising how to get the most out of products people already own, says Haymarket.

Haymarket is on the lookout for students who are passionate about reporting and the role that technology can play in the pursuit of the craft.

The Fellows will also be invited to a one-day session at Google UK in London where they'll have access to training on a range of digital tools including Google Trends, Google Maps, and more. Fellows will then spend the next 8 weeks embedded on projects at Haymarket with the Stuff team.
