Haymarket’s Teddington Riverside plans approved

Haymarket Media Group’s plans to redevelop its Teddington site to provide a high quality residential scheme were approved by Richmond Borough Council last week.

Haymarket says: The proposals underpin Haymarket’s long term plans to remain within the Borough and establish a headquarters for our 1,200 UK colleagues, a third of whom live locally.

The scheme will replace the existing buildings with a high quality residential development which will provide 219 new homes for the Borough and be more in keeping with the surrounding residential area. The site requires significant regeneration and the comprehensive redevelopment plans will deliver a number of benefits for the area. This includes the opening up of this stretch of the river by providing a new riverside garden and walkway for the local community to enjoy.

The site also delivers a significant amount of affordable new homes for the Borough with new affordable housing provided on the site and an £8m financial contribution towards new affordable housing at other locations in the Borough. The plans will also provide a comprehensive package of financial contributions to support transport, public realm, health and education.

As part of the proposals, Haymarket will also deliver a £5m tech hub on the Richmond Education and Enterprise campus where a number of their creative and digital experts will be based. The innovative tech hub will deliver free access to state of the art facilities through the Haymarket Skills Academy, who would also benefit from a wide range of opportunities, including careers forums, apprenticeships and mentoring.

Kevin Costello, Chief Executive of Haymarket Media Group, said: “We are delighted with the Council’s decision to approve our proposals. We are immensely proud of our strong local ties stretching back over 35 years and the decision allows us to move forward and establish our global headquarters in the Borough of Richmond.”
